This weeks wine tasting was a Pinot Grigio from Chloe Vineyards. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Chloe and the bottle was super cute, so I decided to give it a try.
Variety: Pinot Grigio
Region: Valdadige D.O.C.
“Hailing from the cool Northern Italian Valdadige D.O.C., Chloe Pinot Grigio is a classic expression of this timeless varietal. Alluring aromatics lead into an intense expression of the Pinot Grigio grape with a generously structured mouthfeel. On the palate, fruit-forward flavors of juicy white peach, soft melon, crisp apple and floral honeysuckle lead to a crisp, refreshing finish with a subtle undertone of Meyer lemon.”
I liked this Pinot Grigio from Italy a lot more than I liked the Pinot Grigio from California I tried before. The initial aroma I got from the wine was acidic and slightly fruity. When I continued to drink the wine, I got hints of citrus, grapefruit and a slight floral hint. The aftertaste was a strong peach taste that made the wine great from initial smell to after I swallowed. It’s a lot dryer of wine than I usually like, but I actually enjoyed this wine more than I expected.
